About Me HEADING_TITLE
Hi, my name is Marcus. Welcome to the Naval Cover Shop - a virtual Shop for Naval Covers, Postal History and Covers of many types.

I have been a dealer of stamps and covers for over ten years. I've had an interest in stamps and coins since I was a kid and still collect a little when I can find the time. I put together a specialized collection of the 6c Lincoln Bank Note Stamp of the 19th Century which includes stamps (for the cancels) and Postal History, as well as a collection of the Harding Imperforate Stamp issues of the 1920s (stamps and covers).

If you notice a pattern here, it's that I like covers. I enjoy any combination of postal use, stamp design, history, cancel, event, ship or vessel, cachet (if any), or Philatelic use.

I started my original eBay business in 1998 and sold stamps, First Day Covers, and a few other types of collectibles. A few years later (and under the name jmarc2004), a dealer friend of mine sold me a group of Naval Covers. I was hooked! I bought and sold thousands of covers, all exclusively on eBay.

But, after spending most of 2005 restructuring my business for an eBay Store model and spending thousands of dollars to purchase new material, eBay decided that they were no longer going to list Store items in search as of early 2006. Then they increased store fees in the summer, systematically eliminating thousands of small businesses on eBay. The ability to stock thousands of items on eBay had become prohibitively expensive. I came to realize, if I had to promote my own store and find my own customers, I didn't need eBay as a middleman.

After a false start at Bidville I decided to move to my own online storefront. A friend and I designed it and here it is: navalcovershop.com. Easy navigation, a quick search, plenty of categories, every cover scanned. There is constant new material, reasonable prices, and quick shipping. In short, we offer everything that you should look for in a site.

I am running ads in Linn's Stamp News, the United States Stamp Society journal, and in the Universal Ship Cancellation Society "Log". I suggest that you join the USCS if you are not already a member: it's a great society with a really nice journal from which I am constantly learning.

So, if you will bear with me as I grow this site and come back often, you will be rewarded. I am listing new material constantly and offering a valuable newsletter. And, as you can see from the new Shuttle category, I purchased an inventory of Shuttle and Apollo covers. Thousands, actually. "What," you may ask, "do these have to do with Naval Covers?" Not much - I just love covers!

Thanks for coming aboard.

Marcus
